Dr. Chai Wutiwiwatchai, Executive Director of NECTEC, together with the representatives from the International Cooperations Sections (ICOS), joined delegations from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, and Innovation (MHESI) in welcoming the German delegations led by the Royal Thai Embassy in Berlin, along with members of the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, on the courtesy visit to Thailand and the Ministry. The visit aimed to strengthen network, deepen mutual understanding at the state political level between the two countries, and explore potential collaboration in research and development.
During the visit, Dr. Chai Wutiwiwatchai presented Thailand’s National AI Strategy and outlined key AI actions actively supported by NECTEC, including AI Computing Infrastructure, the Thai Large Language Model, the Medical AI Consortium, AI Benchmark and Standard Testing, the AI-Powered Poverty Data Platform (TPMAP), and AI Manpower Development. The Executive Director of NECTEC also expressed strong interest in potential collaboration North Rhine-Westphalia’s research and development network, which spans AI, semiconductor, and sensor technologies, offering a brief comparative overview of areas of mutual relevance including HPC / AI Infrastructure, Foundation Models, Multimodal & Agentic AI, AI Security & Biometrics, AI Standards & Certification, Agri-AI (an existing anchor area), and Medical & Sensing AI including semiconductor R&D. The North Rhine-Westphalia delegations responded positively to the presentation, expressing enthusiasm for the possibility of future collaboration.
