Dr. Chai Wutiwiwatchai, Executive Director of the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), participated in the 53rd Meeting of the ASEAN Sub-Committee on Microelectronics and Information Technology (SCMIT-53), held from 20–21 October 2025 at Jubilee Prestige Hotel, Ratchadaphisek, Bangkok.

On 20 October, Thailand presented its national progress report, highlighting recent activities and achievements. The country also reported on the implementation progress of projects previously endorsed by SCMIT, including the project entitled “Learning Technologies with KidBright Platform”, implemented by the Educational Technology Research Team (EDT) of the Computer and Network Research Group (CNWRG) under NECTEC.

On 21 October, following the recent restructuring of Sub-Committees (SCs) under the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI), the meeting noted that SCMIT will continue to operate as a standalone sub-committee. Consequently, members agreed to identify and define 10 new priority areas to guide SCMIT’s future activities and collaborative initiatives.

The participation of NECTEC in SCMIT-53 reaffirms Thailand’s commitment to advancing regional cooperation in science, technology, and innovation, particularly in the fields of microelectronics and information technology. Through active engagement in ASEAN mechanisms, NECTEC continues to strengthen partnerships and contribute to the development of digital capacity and innovation across the region.
