As image and video recording becomes available in many devices, such as mobile phones and security cameras, an uncountable number of image and video data are generated and stored beyond human abilities to manually process in real time. To cope with this situation, devices and their programs in side need to understand the semitic meaning of these data like human. Moreover, they have to be intelligent enough to learn and teach themselves when approaching new available data. These technologies are related to the artificial intelligence and machine learning. The Image Technology Laboratory focuses on four areas of applications: (1) Traffic and security surveillance, (2) Agricultural applications, (3) Medical imaging, and (4) Character recognition and document analysis.
